South Perth Yacht Club

A couple of weeks back made a trip over to South Perth as it looked like we may have a nice sunset and thinking that I thought the Yacht Club may make a nice image. Well the sunset was very nice only thing was all the color was over the ocean and maybe a good 60 mins south of where I was.

So I was left with a moody and dark image of the Yacht Club as the dark ominous clouds gathered over the city and the last rays of sunlight provided some lighting against the million dollar boats sitting in their pens at South Perth Yacht Club on a calm and moody evening on the Swan River.

Margaret River Surf

Soon Spool Photography with have a whole new section of images to choose from. Over the last 4-6 weeks I have been gathering around 50 odd images to be showcased under an Open Edition section of Spool Photography.

Here is a sample of one of those images that will be included in this field. Taken last April “08″ Margaret River Surf was taken just after first light when there was a offshore breeze that gave the crashing waves a neat curl to them, the tops of the waves spray blowing back over the crest of the wave. I tried to line the top of the curling wave as the horizon as so many times I see images and the horizon is just flat and kind of boring. I thought it maybe more interesting if I gave the impression the crashing wave was the horizon …

Western Australia’s Sand Dunes

Took a trip up to Lancelin this passed weekend to shoot some dune shots for the portfolio. It was very windy when I arrived at the Dunes and did not let up till long after sunset. I took several images and tracked up and down dunes for hours looking for the best lines in the sand and shears drops. While the dunes are always changing shape I can see myself revisiting this area soon with some new point of views of these dunes.

So for now having looked through the images taken I am pleased to say I will have 2 new images to the Galleries On Spool Photography this coming week.

Here are some small jpeg versions of these images. The large files I have for print purposes are amazing in detail and clarity, very much looking forward to print these images at 60 inches (1.5mtrs)
