This month at the Mindarie [...]

This month at the Mindarie Keys Hotel Foyer I have 10 large framed landscape prints on display. Being my first display of this kind the work that goes on to prepare for something like this was a good learning curve. First was choosing which one of my images I should use, then what media should each be printed on, then the matt-boarding, framing etc …

A BIG THANK YOU to Terraze from Arts Edge Gallery for putting up with my daily requests and intrusions into your business day.

Over the next few days I will be taking better images of the display, these images below are just quick snaps of some of the 10 prints on display.

The Display is in the Hotel Foyer at Mindarie Keys Hotel situated at
Ocean Falls Boulevard
Mindarie, 6030
Western Australia
P: 08 9305 9305

The display is open everyday throughout June from 8am-6pm.

Cheers

Neal

We finally have a new section on Spool Photography. The “Open Edition” Section of Spool Photography Landscapes. Like the “Limited Edition” Section you can also view the images in scale in a room wall. Unique to Spool Photography the “In Your Home” feature is there to help you choose the size that would suit your wall at home.

All Open Edition prints come hand signed as well. Being Open Edition there is no numbered limit to the prints thus making them substantially more affordable. The same care is taken with the prints and the print material used is of the highest quality.
New images from my travels [...]

New images from my travels to Yosemite National Park and now available through the website Spoolphotography.com under the “Limited Edition Section” just flowing the links from USA > Standard > Vertical.

There you will find 2 images from Yosemite National Park, one of Yosemite Falls and one from El Capitan. Both images are Black & White and are Limited in numbers to 60. The first few prints of each have each reminded my of the grandeur of Yosemite National Park. Once printed on Fujiflex and framed they both look amazing. I personally have of El Capitan and will be printing the Yosemite Falls image early next week for my home. I am very proud of both these prints. I had a certain vision when I went to the park last year and to come away with 2 of the 3 specific images I always wanted is more than I could of asked for.

Both images can be purchased in a range of sizes from 24 inches through to 60 inches in length. Once I find a nice location to photograph the framed versions of these images I will post here on the blog the results. My framer Arts Edge has once again done an incredible job with the framing and I could not be happier with the results.

Dawn over San Francisco is [...]

Dawn over San Francisco is a special time. With the sun coming up over the Eastern Sierra’s, the sky and mountain tops take on a magnificent glow. With the lights still burning in the city and bay added by the ever present fog rolling in off the Pacific Ocean, watching a sunrise from the Marin Headlands over the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco is a memory I’ll never forget.

In this image I tried to not capture too much of the sky for reason being I think it detracts from the city still being in darkness with the lights still lighting up the bay, plus the glow was way too much to handle while still allowing the city lights to shine through on Camera, for the human eye this is not a problem but for camera exposure proposes it still is.

Shot at 200mm with 4 separate images stitched to form one large hi resolution image capable of being printed to 90 or more inches without quality being compromised. The detail in the city and across the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge is stunning.

Recently I spent several days shooting landscape image for Spoolphotography.com over in NSW. In the time I was there I visited several of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, The Blue Mountains and spent some time shooting the Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge. So over the next few weeks I hope to bring my blog readers several new images from these regions.

Here is one of Narrabean Pools just north of Sydney on one of its many very picturesque beaches.

Just back from my 10 day photographic journey through Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the Blue Mountains and a couple of days shooting in and around Sydney Harbor Bridge and Opera House.

First image I thought I would prepare for the blog is a shot taken of the Opera House in Sydney, one of Australia’s favorite icons. This shot was taken before sunrise when the sun was just starting to light up the high clouds that where overhead turning the early morning light a subtle pink.

Well it has been some [...]

Well it has been some time since my last post. In this time I have been working on my “Open Edition Landscape Panoramic Images” as well as looking through over 2000 images taken on a 10 day trek through Western Australia’s Great Southern Region.

In those 10 days I visited the Stirling Ranges, Esperance and Cape Le Grand as well as a couple of days in Albany and a night in Pemberton.

While most of my trip was spent down around the Esperance region I did manage to capture a few nice images that I will be showing on this blog of Albany, the Stirling Ranges and Pemberton. While I did get some nice light quite a few days where no god for shooting because of either harsh light, calm burn offs or too many hours driving between locations. Because of this I will be revisiting the Pemberton, Stirling Ranges region of Western Australia in the coming weeks, so be on the look out for those images.

First up is a coule of images from the recent trip. One of the stirling ranges and one of an amazing Esperance sunset on the beach. Both of these images will be made available for sale via the “Open Edition” section of the website in the coming weeks. If you would like to purchase either of these images before they go live on the website, please just shoot me an email via the contact page on Spoolphotography.com and I will respond within 24hrs with sizes and prices.

Cheers

While waiting for the impending birth of our first child I thought I would dig up an image I took on my last trip to Sydney, New South Wales. Taken on one of Sydney many rocking coastlines this image is a stitched image with each image I waited for the wave to crash along the rock ledge so when it was stitched it would show each section of the rock shelf with one of the waves that crashed against the rock ledge leading into the dark depths of the Pacific Ocean.

Hope you enjoy the image. It is for sale as a Limited Edition Print under the Australian section of the main site Spoolphotography.com

With all the nice light [...]

With all the nice light around currently due to the warm humid weather, give me New Orleans/ Cairns weather everyday of the week, I have been out a fair bit shooting a variety of locations this past week or so.

One of the locations I have shot recently was 3 or 4 beaches around Perth with varying results. Some shot during the day to capture those stunning wispy white clouds and turquoise waters and others taken at or before dawn or sunsets.

Heres a little image taken during one of those golden sunsets we had last week here in Perth, Western Australia.
