The 3 Sisters are a rock formation in the Blue Mountains of NSW Australia. Located at Echo Point they are 922, 918 & 906 metres tall or around 3000 feet above sea level.
This image was taken last winter on a very cold and dark morning. Waiting for the sun to rise I was hoping the sun would provide the right light between the 2 large rock plateaus and the 3 sisters.
I was rewarded for the cold early start with a stunning sunrise over one of Australia’s Iconic National Landmarks. The 3 Sisters At The Blue Mountains.
Dawn over San Francisco is a special time. With the sun coming up over the Eastern Sierra’s, the sky and mountain tops take on a magnificent glow. With the lights still burning in the city and bay added by the ever present fog rolling in off the Pacific Ocean, watching a sunrise from the Marin Headlands over the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco is a memory I’ll never forget.
In this image I tried to not capture too much of the sky for reason being I think it detracts from the city still being in darkness with the lights still lighting up the bay, plus the glow was way too much to handle while still allowing the city lights to shine through on Camera, for the human eye this is not a problem but for camera exposure proposes it still is.
Shot at 200mm with 4 separate images stitched to form one large hi resolution image capable of being printed to 90 or more inches without quality being compromised. The detail in the city and across the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge is stunning.
One of my favorite times to photograph San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge is after sunset. The reason I like this time of day/evening to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge is because of the lights. The lights of the city light up the bay and the bridge takes on a more prominent feature during this time. Not that it needs to be any more prominent that it already is, its just after dark for me I think it comes alive and really shines.
If you would like to purchase a fine art print of “The Golden Gate Bridge After Dark” before then please contact myself through the contact form listed on the site. This image will be made available in sizes ranging from 12 inches long through to 90 inches long, as well as any custom size you wish. I think this image would lend itself to both a gloss media like Fuji Flex and/or Cotton Rag Photographic Paper. Both look amazing printed on these finishes as large as possible.
Taken on very cold evening after sunset from the scenic lookout at the Blue Mountains in NSW called Govetts Leap.
Image will be made available as a fine art print in an assortment of sizes and finishes through the website Spoolphotography.com “Open Edition” section in the coming weeks.
Well it has been some time since my last post. In this time I have been working on my “Open Edition Landscape Panoramic Images” as well as looking through over 2000 images taken on a 10 day trek through Western Australia’s Great Southern Region.
In those 10 days I visited the Stirling Ranges, Esperance and Cape Le Grand as well as a couple of days in Albany and a night in Pemberton.
While most of my trip was spent down around the Esperance region I did manage to capture a few nice images that I will be showing on this blog of Albany, the Stirling Ranges and Pemberton. While I did get some nice light quite a few days where no god for shooting because of either harsh light, calm burn offs or too many hours driving between locations. Because of this I will be revisiting the Pemberton, Stirling Ranges region of Western Australia in the coming weeks, so be on the look out for those images.
First up is a coule of images from the recent trip. One of the stirling ranges and one of an amazing Esperance sunset on the beach. Both of these images will be made available for sale via the “Open Edition” section of the website in the coming weeks. If you would like to purchase either of these images before they go live on the website, please just shoot me an email via the contact page on Spoolphotography.com and I will respond within 24hrs with sizes and prices.
Cheers

With all the nice light around currently due to the warm humid weather, give me New Orleans/ Cairns weather everyday of the week, I have been out a fair bit shooting a variety of locations this past week or so.
One of the locations I have shot recently was 3 or 4 beaches around Perth with varying results. Some shot during the day to capture those stunning wispy white clouds and turquoise waters and others taken at or before dawn or sunsets.
Heres a little image taken during one of those golden sunsets we had last week here in Perth, Western Australia.
A couple of weeks back made a trip over to South Perth as it looked like we may have a nice sunset and thinking that I thought the Yacht Club may make a nice image. Well the sunset was very nice only thing was all the color was over the ocean and maybe a good 60 mins south of where I was.
So I was left with a moody and dark image of the Yacht Club as the dark ominous clouds gathered over the city and the last rays of sunlight provided some lighting against the million dollar boats sitting in their pens at South Perth Yacht Club on a calm and moody evening on the Swan River.
Recently I travelled to the Margaret River / Dunsborough region of Western Australia for a 4 day family vacation / shoot. While the family slept-in every morning, I managed to wake each morning around 4.20am to head out to location scouted from a previous trip or day before scout to set up for first light of the morning. While most mornings provided pretty average light there where moments when the light was nicely filtered by passing clouds allowing for some nice images to be taken for the portfolio.
Below is one of the first I have had the time to prepare for the blog and ultimately the galleries within Spool Photography. This image was taken around 6am after a brief shower or two when the sun came through the clouds just enough to provide a nice yellow hue over the green vines of a Margaret River Winery.
Another image from my recent trip to the Cape Naturaliste region. Where I spent a few days traveling up and down the coast from Dunsborough through to Margaret River photography landscapes each morning and evening.
This is image is now in the Spool Photography Limited Edition Landscapes as Fine Art Landscape Edition of 60 and can be found under the Western Australian gallery section titled Cape Naturaliste Headlands
