Driving through Sausalito well before dawn on my way to the Golden Gate Bridge I knew it was going to be a good morning to photograph the city of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. The bay looking across to Angel Island looked clear with no fog and as I crossed the 101 fwy there was a little fog drifting in from the Pacific Ocean, no heavy blankets of fog that I had experienced many times before which was a good thing.
Setting up well before dawn I waited till moments before the sun came over the Mount Diablo Mountains to get the peak color across the sky and and hopefully still have the city lights on. it all came together in just a few short moments as the fog was starting to get thicker by the second. I had to move quick to capture the moment before it was gone. There is nothing quite like seeing the fog roll in at dawn over San Francisco Bay. Looking across the Golden Gate Bridge out to Oakland, The Bay Bridge and Trans America building. I had been chasing this type of image for over 3 years and now I have it, finally.
